God Does It All I had been invited to visit a home in a small village in India specifically to share the gospel. This was my first time sharing the gospel in India. I was nervous and uncertain about what I should say. I had studied India culture, but what if I made a mistake and unknowning offended someone. I ducked low to enter the small home and was greeted by two women. A woman and her mother. I started to introduce myself, "Hello, my name is Steve and I've come from America..." I said. But I didn't finish even my first sentence. The younger woman had started crying! What had I done? How had I insulted her? I asked my translator to find out what the problem was. He said, "There is no problem. She just became a Christian." I hadn't done or said anything. All I did was show up and God gave me the gift of seeing him save someone. It's all about God. He saves, not us. I prayed with the woman. She then asked me to tell her mother about Jesus. I shared the gospel with her and she also began to trust in Christ as her savior. Most of the time I feel like I'm a seed planter. This time I was present for the harvest. I feel very blessed to have seen God working. |
You Can't Push Your Religion On People On a Public Sidewalk! On a Friday evening I was part of a team doing street preaching on a sidewalk next to a public park. The way the team works is that one person preaches and the others interact with the crowd as the message ends. I picked out a young man and asked him, "What do you think about what you just heard?" He replied, "You can't do this! You can't push your religion on people. This is a public sidewalk. We have separation of church and state!. I'm an atheist and I don't want to hear your fairy tales!" This caught me by surprise and I was taken aback a little bit. Then it came to me that I should tell him the elevator story. "Could I tell you a short story?" I asked. With a grimace and a look of disgust he agreed to listen. ...continued: read the elevator story My Husband Just Died A question we commonly ask people is, "What happens after you die?" What would you do if you asked a stranger this question and her reply was, "I know exactly what happens. My husband just died." ...continued: sharing the gospel |
